Glad to see you made it over here ok! I mostly use Jaiku to gather together my "presence stream" or "lifestream" from other areas. I still tend to prefer Twitter overall, but Jaiku has it's charms too. Hope you enjoy it here!
Thanks! I like it, there just don't seem to be too many people over here right now, hopefully that will change after they open it up the public? I do love Twitter, I'm on it so much, but the downtime is driving me nuts. I think people are starting to look elsewhere for services... the problem is going to be everybody going to use different services, whereas most people use Twitter as their main mini-blog.
I noticed a lot of people on Twitter did sign up last year but looking around at their profiles here many of them haven't logged in here in some time. I've been curious lately if more people would come (back) here due to Twitter's problems. I agree with your thought people are looking elsewhere.
In my case, Twitter's problems are concerning, but I've been looking around thinking about how things might be once the iPhone 2.0 software comes out and you can get real apps for it. I know BrightKite and SocialThing! both plan to have iPhone based apps and I like both services a lot for different reasons. BrightKite in particular is nice for me due to it's location and photo posting abilities. And both of them allow you to continue to use Twitter to some degree (BrightKite forwards to Twitter but doesn't have a way to read in the stream, SocialThing can read it in and post to it).
I can never seem to login to to BrightKite from my phone (Blackberry Curve), which frustrates me because I'm always trying to send pictures to BrightKite.
